Location: Bradford/Hybrid Working (minimum 2 days in the office per week – Bradford). Applicants must be within easy reach of our Bradford office.


Work type: This is a 12 x months fixed term role working 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between a working window of 8:00am – 17:00pm


We have an exciting opportunity for a Sewer Adoptions Technician to join the Developer Services Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Where you fit in:


As our Sewer Adoptions Technician you will:



  • Ensure new assets that are brought into the business are fit for purpose, designed to the latest engineering specification, require minimal operation and maintenance thereby ensuring asset health is maximised from the outset

  • Collaborate across the business to ensure a coordinated approach to new design requirements, legal and regulatory obligations, and policy changes.

  • Share knowledge and data across the business in relation to the new assets being adopted / diverted / requisitioned (AI / EDMS / Odyssey)

  • Share data with the Yorkshire Water modelling teams (hydraulic modelling files), Yorkshire Water mapping team and Yorkshire Water Operations (camera surveys)


What skills & qualifications you will need:



  • You will understand the principles of connecting to the public sewer network, designing a new sewer network, sewer diversion, sewer requisition, sewer closure and works in the highway along with Planning legislation requirements

  • You will also understand the design, operation and maintenance of gravity and pumped sewerage networks (foul and surface water)

  • You will understand the design and operation of sewerage pump stations and network storage assets

  • Have knowledge on sewerage engineering, construction methods and sewer hydraulics, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and the end to end treatment process

  • You will understand the latest legislation (Water Industry Act, The Big Transfer, Planning) and guidance (Code for Adoption, CIRIA The SuDS Manual)

  • Understand the Regulatory environment - Water UK, DMex

  • Adopts a customer focussed approach to building and maintaining relationships

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering / Sewerage Network Design and Operation

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications

  • Full Driving Licence with less than 6 points
