Job Title: Transport Planner
Location: Bradford
Salary: £28k - £32k per year

About the Role
Our client is looking for an organised and proactive Transport Planner to join their team and ensure the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of goods and services. You’ll play a key role in route planning, vehicle scheduling, compliance, and communication with internal teams and external partners
Key Responsibilities
Plan and optimize daily/weekly transport schedules and routes based on demand, capacity, and cost-efficiency
Allocate vehicles and drivers according to availability, legal driving hours, and operational requirements
Monitor and track deliveries to ensure timely and accurate completion
Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to manage changes or delays
Maintain up-to-date records of transport activities, incidents, and compliance documents
Analyse transport data and KPIs to identify areas for improvement and cost savings
Ensure all transport operations comply with relevant legislation, health and safety, and environmental standards
Maintain up to date records in the transport management system ( Syrinx) and prepare jobs for invoicing
Raise movement orders for plant machinery, ensuring movement orders are in place prior to delivery of the products that fall within STGO
Requirements
Proven experience in transport/logistics planning or a similar role
Strong understanding of transport regulations, including drivers’ hours and vehicle compliance
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficiency with transport planning software and MS Office
Effective communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to fast-paced environments
Good geographical knowledge of the UK
Experience working in a fast paced and pressured environment
Able to meet strict deadlines
Desirable
Knowledge of route optimization tools (e.g., Paragon, SAP TM, Fleetmatics)
CPC qualification or equivalent
Experience in working within FMCG, retail, or distribution sectors
