Futures recruitment is recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a busy engineering and maintenance team within a fast-paced manufacturing/industrial environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who is confident carrying out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs to ensure minimal downtime across production operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining machinery, improving reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on a range of mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Respond quickly and effectively to reactive maintenance and breakdown situations.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
- Minimise production downtime through efficient fault finding and problem solving.
- Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately.
- Support continuous improvement projects to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures and company standards.
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maintain operational efficiency.
- Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and shutdown activities when required.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician, or similar role.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Experience with planned and reactive maintenance within manufacturing, production, industrial, or FMCG environments.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, bearings, and gearboxes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Strong understanding of health & safety practices within an engineering environment.
- Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to support shift patterns if required.
