We are excited to be working exclusively on a Financial Controller opportunity with a well-established, acquisitive business in Bradford. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering innovative solutions across a diverse customer base and has established a nationwide presence. Following continued growth, the business is looking to appoint an ambitious Financial Controller to oversee the finance team and play a key role in driving business performance.
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while leading a small finance team. This is a broad and varied role that combines strong financial control with commercial business partnering, providing valuable insight to support strategic decision-making across the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing a small team of 2 management accountants
- Managing monthly close process and overseeing the preparation of accurate and timely management accounts.
- Reviewing P&L, balance sheets and cash flow reporting, providing insightful commentary on business performance.
- Producing budgets, forecasts and financial models to support strategic planning.
- Partnering with operations to improve profitability and informed decision making.
- Managing cash flow forecasting and working capital.
- Developing robust financial controls, processes and governance.
- Supporting FD with strategic projects, acquisitions.
- Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, systems and financial processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinating year-end audit and statutory reporting requirements, working closely with external auditors and advisers.
Ideally you will be able to demonstrate the below qualifications/experience:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified.
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller or similar level role.
- Experience working in a multi-site business.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Experience managing and developing finance teams.
- Ability to interpret financial information and influence decision-making.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
- Strong Excel skills and experience of ERP or integrated finance systems.
