As the Project Manager, your purpose is to lead the successful delivery of multiple manufacturing projects, typically including containers, enclosures and plant-room ventilation systems serving the power generation industry, from customer order through to final acceptance. Project values will range from £10K up to £5M, maybe more.  You will coordinate customers, internal departments, site teams and specialist subcontractors to deliver each project safely, on programme, within budget and to the required technical and acoustic performance standards.

Salary:  £50,000 - £55,000 depending on experience

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, normal day hours, some flexibility required.

Location: Bradford, fully office based (with some travel to customer sites, occasional overnight stays may be required)

PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • You have experience of working with, and knowledge of Acoustic Casing / Acoustic Enclosers.
  • You have a flexible approach to working hours, travelling and occasional overnight stays.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering engineered-to-order manufacturing projects from design through installation and commissioning, ideally within the power generation sector.
  • Must have experience of working in a high-pressure, customer facing role managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of contract administration, variations and change management.
  • Demonstratable commercial awareness.
  • Experience using project planning software such as Microsoft Project.
  • Microsoft Office skills are essential.

Responsibilities:

Project lifecycle ownership:

  • Take ownership of projects from customer order through design, approvals, manufacture, delivery, installation, fit-out, testing, commissioning and final acceptance.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project delivery, managing expectations, understanding design requirements, communicating progress, resolving issues and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, identifying key milestones, dependencies, design approvals, procurement lead times, manufacturing activities, site works, specialist fit-out, testing and commissioning. Chair regular progress meetings with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan and undertake site surveys to capture the dimensions, interfaces, access constraints and technical information required by the design teams. Review and verify issued drawings against site conditions before manufacture begins, resolving discrepancies and securing the necessary approvals.
  • Write detailed site-specific risk assessments and method statements for all site-based activities away from the HQ, ensuring compliance with all necessary Health & Safety legislation.
  • Manage internal teams responsible for site installation. Confirm scope, programme, interfaces, documentation, H&S and quality requirements. Attend site as required to monitor progress and performance, resolve coordination issues and obtain final customer sign-off and acceptance.

Specialist sub-contractor management:

  • Manage specialist subcontractors, typically responsible for M&E fit-out / testing, and site installation. Confirm scope, programme, interfaces, documentation and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate inspection and test plans, factory and site acceptance activities, acoustic testing, commissioning records, operation and maintenance information, handover documentation and closure of outstanding actions before final acceptance.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the projects’ financial performance by maintaining gross profit and increasing it where possible without compromising quality, safety or customer satisfaction.
  • Full responsibility for budget control, cost forecasting, change control / variation recovery, cashflow management, payment valuations and applications.
  • Communicate with production and procurement departments to monitor progress and control costs through the project to ensure it is delivered on time and within budget, submitting regular financial and progress reports.
  • Identify non-conformances, record them on the database and be proactive with leading lessons learned meetings / discussions to avoid recurrence.
