A secondary school in Bradford is seeking an experienced and proactive Assistant Head of Year to join their pastoral team on a long-term temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in a similar role who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Working closely with the Head of Year, you will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance, supporting student welfare, and creating an environment where all students can achieve their full potential.

• Support the Head of Year with the pastoral management of a designated year group.
• Monitor attendance and punctuality, implementing appropriate interventions where required.
• Provide effective support for students experiencing behavioural, social or emotional challenges.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers and staff.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, safeguarding staff and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to pastoral support plans.
• Promote a positive school culture through high expectations and consistent support.

• Previous experience as an Assistant Head of Year, Deputy Head of Year, Assistant Year Manager, or a similar pastoral role within a secondary school.
• Strong behaviour management skills and experience dealing with challenging behaviour.
• Experience supporting attendance, wellbeing and student welfare.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to remain calm, resilient and professional in a fast-paced school environment.
