Your New Role


As a DT Teacher (Including Food Technology), you will be responsible for delivering engaging and inspiring lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, encouraging students to develop their practical, technical and problem-solving skills.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality Design and Technology and Food Technology lessons.
  • Creating an engaging classroom environment that promotes creativity, independence and achievement.
  • Supporting students to develop practical cooking, nutrition and food preparation skills.
  • Assessing, monitoring and tracking student progress to ensure excellent outcomes.
  • Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the department and school community.
  • Promoting a culture of ambition, resilience and achievement.

This is a full-time temporary role, working five days per week, with an immediate start available for the right candidate.


What You'll Need to Succeed


To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be working towards achieving QTS.
  • Have a degree in Design and Technology, Food Technology or a related subject.
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge across DT and Food Technology.
  • Have experience teaching within a secondary school setting, including placements for ECTs.
  • Possess excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Be passionate about delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Have the ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
