Role Overview

We're supporting a customer-focused retail business in the search for an experienced Project Manager to join their transformation function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role requires 2 days a week onsite in Bradford. Please only apply if you live in a commutable distance to Bradford & are happy with the hybrid requirement of the role.

This is a hands-on delivery role for a Project Manager who thrives in fast-paced retail and eCommerce environments, where balancing commercial priorities, customer experience and technology change is critical to success. You'll lead a varied portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on digital transformation, website development, customer-facing initiatives and business change programmes.

A key part of the role will involve driving the delivery of a major website transformation project, working closely with both business and technology stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. You'll be responsible for managing project scope, timelines, risks and dependencies while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement across the business.

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys operating at the heart of a business, bringing together technical and non-technical teams, challenging where appropriate, and ensuring projects remain aligned to both customer and commercial objectives. You'll need to be comfortable navigating complexity, managing competing priorities and driving progress in an environment that combines modern retail demands with established legacy systems.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the delivery of digital, eCommerce, customer experience and business transformation projects from inception through to implementation.
  • Drive a significant website transformation programme, ensuring clear project governance, stakeholder alignment and successful delivery.
  • Manage project plans, budgets, resources, risks, issues and dependencies across multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Act as the key link between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring priorities remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with commercial, customer service, buying, merchandising and technology teams to deliver business-critical change.
  • Facilitate project workshops, requirements discussions and delivery planning sessions.
  • Challenge scope appropriately and manage stakeholder expectations to ensure projects remain achievable and commercially focused.
  • Coordinate third-party suppliers and delivery partners where required.
  • Support business change activities, helping stakeholders prepare for and adopt new processes, systems and ways of working.
  • Ensure project delivery approaches are tailored appropriately, using Agile, Waterfall or hybrid methodologies depending on project requirements.
  • Provide clear and concise progress reporting to stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery standards, tools and ways of working.

Skills Required

  • Proven experience delivering projects within a retail, eCommerce or customer-focused commercial environment.
  • Strong track record of managing digital, website, online customer journey or technology-enabled transformation projects.
  • Experience operating across both business and technology functions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence decision-making.
  • Strong project planning, governance and delivery expertise.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and commercially focused way.
  • Comfortable working within businesses that utilise a mixture of legacy and modern technology platforms.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies including Agile, Waterfall and hybrid approaches.
  • Recognised project management qualification such as PRINCE2, AgilePM or APM is advantageous.
  • Commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to delivery.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience improving customer journeys and supporting customer-focused change initiatives would be beneficial.
  • Retail or eCommerce sector experience is highly desirable.
