Learning Support Assistant (SEN) – 1:1 Support

Location: Bradford
Salary: SCP 5–7 (£25,878 – £26,403)
Contract: Permanent

We are currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide tailored SEN support on a 1:1 basis, working closely with teaching staff to ensure every pupil can access learning and reach their full potential.

Job Overview

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will deliver personalised support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access the curriculum at an appropriate level. You will adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs, while also providing pastoral support.

You will play a key role in monitoring progress, feeding back to the class teacher, and collaborating with colleagues and external professionals to ensure effective provision is in place.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN within the classroom
  • Adapt learning activities to suit individual needs and abilities
  • Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development
  • Implement strategies to manage behaviour and support communication needs
  • Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies
  • Contribute to the delivery of EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) provisions

Job Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) minimum qualification
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, including behaviour management strategies
  • Knowledge or experience supporting speech and language needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and current SEN policies
  • Experience working with external agencies to support EHCP delivery
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
