Waste Collections Operations Manager
Rate: £19.32 per hour

An experienced Waste Collections Operations Manager is required to support a high-volume frontline waste collection service covering more than 225,000 domestic properties and 3,000 commercial customers.
You will take responsibility for day-to-day operational performance, ensuring routes are fully staffed, programmed collections are completed and disruption, complaints and vehicle downtime are minimised.
Key Responsibilities
·Manage daily waste collection operations, route coverage, staffing and service performance.
·Recruit, onboard, induct and manage operational employees across a workforce of up to 240 staff.
·Monitor performance using In-Cab technology, Body Camera data and operational reporting.
·Manage accidents and emergencies involving waste collection vehicles and ensure appropriate investigations and documentation are completed.
·Produce operational reports, statistics and performance information for senior management.
·Manage staff appraisals, supervision, development and training requirements.
·Ensure compliance with relevant waste collection, driver, vehicle and health & safety legislation.
·Chair staff meetings and communicate operational requirements, service changes and performance expectations.
·Investigate complaints and service delivery concerns, implementing corrective action where required.
·Complete and review risk assessments covering waste collections, vehicle operations and depot safety.
·Work with fleet, highways, finance and other operational stakeholders to maintain continuity of service.
·Identify and implement new processes and operational improvements in line with industry best practice.
Requirements
·Strong operational management experience within waste collections, environmental services, fleet operations or a similar frontline service.
·Experience managing large operational workforces and complex daily workloads.
·Good understanding of health & safety, risk assessments, vehicle operations and compliance.
·Strong people management, performance management and communication skills.
·Ability to analyse operational data and produce clear management reports.
·Comfortable working autonomously and making operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
This is an immediate 3-month contract offering responsibility for a large-scale, high-volume collection operation where effective workforce and operational management will have a direct impact on service performance.
