We’re recruiting a No. 1 Printer for a global packaging business at its Bradford site, producing high-quality cartons for consumer and healthcare customers.
With a focus on innovative, recyclable packaging, this is an opportunity to bring your expertise to a business where print quality and precision matter every day.
Your role
As the No. 1 Printer, you’ll take the lead on your press, working closely with your No. 2 and the wider production team to deliver safe, efficient and consistently high-quality print runs.
From preparation and make-ready through to production, you’ll use your experience to keep jobs moving, resolve issues and achieve the right finish.
You’ll be:
- Taking ownership of press performance, balancing quality, output and efficiency.
- Setting up and running jobs, checking specifications, layouts, grip and grain direction against approved copies.
- Maintaining print quality, identifying defects and making adjustments to keep work within specification.
- Working closely with your No. 2, ensuring plates, inks, board and work tickets are ready for upcoming jobs.
- Troubleshooting press and print issues, using your technical knowledge to minimise avoidable downtime.
- Keeping the press in good condition, completing routine maintenance, safety checks and housekeeping.
- Setting a positive example, encouraging teamwork, clear communication and safe working practices.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be an experienced printer who is confident taking responsibility for a press and delivering work to demanding quality standards.
You’ll bring:
- Experience as a No. 1 Printer, Lead Printer or experienced Press Minder.
- A strong background in lithographic printing and relevant technical training.
- Komori or KBA press experience would be particularly welcome, although we’re keen to hear from skilled printers with other press backgrounds.
- A good eye for colour, register, consistency and detail.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to organise work, communicate clearly and support your No. 2.
- Pride in producing quality work and maintaining a safe, well-run press.
